Roll-shades are supported and operated by means of base bracket and pulley bracket assemblies attached to roof bars below the roof vent header. One (1) set is required for each 2-section shade and two (2) sets for each 3-section shade. Plan your work and attach the base brackets to the appropriate roof bars accordingly. Start by centering each base bracket on the correct roof bar, so that the bracket flange is against the vent header. Mark for holes through barcap and vent header, using the bracket holes as template. Punch clearance holes in the barcap ¼" diameter. Then, using a 5/32" drill bit, drill into bar slot (approximately ½" depth) through the punched holes. Drill 5/16" holes diameter in the vent header. Attach the base brackets to the roof bars with (2) flat head self-tapping screws and to the header with (2) machine bolts and nuts. Lay cord ends on the roof slope, (2) for each shade. With help from second installer raise shades in rolled condition up roof incline and engage the top slats in the lugs on the base bracket. Each shade may be rolled out to its full length and centered.

In case of 2-section aluminum slat shade #1408 aluminum lugs have to be secured at the extremities of the top slats.

Mount the pulley brackets on the base brackets and secure with a wing nut each. Pull the cord end through an appropriate space between slats. For the 2-section shade the cord ends are secured to the #1408 aluminum lug at the shade ends. For the 3-section shade the cord ends are knotted at the hole provided in the pulley bracket. The cords, now lying under the hanging shades, should be passed up the roof over the shade and threaded though the pulleys, and then back to grade. Each shade should be operated to make sure it rolls straight and compactly and does not foul with its neighbor.

At approximately the centerline of each shade fasten a cleat to the masonry wall. The cleat may also be fastened to a glazing bar or the wall sill, of desired. The shade cords should be secured to the cleat at all times.
