Constant airflow in your greenhouse is very important for many reasons. Circulating fans reduce humidity and moisture condensation, helping to prevent insects and fungus from settling on your plants. A fan maintains an even temperature, by mixing hot and cold "spots" in your greenhouse. They improve photosynthesis by increasing fresh airflow across plants' leaf surface. They also help pay for themselves by reducing heat loss from conduction through wet glazing.

Fan placement is also very important. Avoid placing the fan directly on a plant, as it may cause damage. Click here to view some fan placement diagrams.

Some things to keep in mind when shopping for fans: white housing prevents shadowing, variable speed motors allow you to set fans to an appropriate level, and large fan holes provide more airflow than household fans. An important thing to remember: greenhouses are normally high in humidity, so avoid products that will rust. Aluminum, PVC, and other rust resistant components are a good idea.

Take a look at our collection of maintenance-free, rust-resistant circulation fans. You will notice the features I discussed.
